My most favourite new thing

Since abandoning my previous attempt at quilting, I really wanted a project I could a: feel good about and enjoy making and b: actually finish...

So here it is (and I love it!):

My first go at half square triangles - I just messed about with the layout after cutting until I found something I was happy with. The borders were an afterthought as I realised that it was too small! In my mind, a lap quilt has at least got to cover your feet right?

The fabrics are a combination of my market finds and some polka dots from Rolls and Rems. The borders are Kei Honeycomb in grey and Klona cotton in ash. The binding fabric is a cotton from Dalston Mill; just how much does that look like a Liberty print?! I may be binding everything in that from now on. Machine quilted with organic* lines. Binding is hand sewn and the finished size is 46" x 50".

This quilt is just for me although it received the absolute highest accolade when Ruben stroked the back and announced it was "sof" (that means soft for those of you that don't speak baby...) so I may have to share it with a little one. But that's ok.

It looks great! I'm saving my quilting challenges for when we move as there is this amazing fabric shop down the high street and I want to get a fabric stash together before starting. I'm also tempted to handstitch one. Just because with my 18 month old who doesn't like loud noises and a baby on the way for Xmas I doubt I'll be able to use a sewing machine for more then 20sec without someone crying lol

Your quilt looks great! Isn't it amazing how many different patterns you can come up with for HSTs? And I love that Kei Honeycomb! Good stuff!
