Calling all dressmakers.....

We're having a bit of a discussion over here about patterns - what kind of paper do you prefer? Are you a tracer? Would you pay more for better quality? Do you not care?!

We'd love to hear your thoughts on this issue as we're currently looking at different options for printing.

Sorry to hijack my personal blog (is it possible to hijack something that is yours?!). Won't happen again ;) As you were.

I'm a tracer, and prefer the heavier paper used by some independent pattern designers.

Much prefer the slightly thicker (as in oliver and s patterns) paper as is so much easier to use. Although I don't like the price this means! I actually really like downloading patterns and printing them on paper as I find easier to cut and use, although only used for children's clothes, could be annoying for adults. Hope some help x

I put my paper underneath the pattern and use pin pricks to mark the size I want, sometimes doing my alterations, ie at waist, as I go along so I prefer the thinner paper. This means all my patterns are in tact and I am pretty good at folding them back up !!! Price is usually my main priority when purchasing the odd pattern, although I also make my own :)

I trace onto PVC which makes using again easy and preserves all the sizes on the original pattern. Really dislike patterns on tissue as I can never manage to fold them back up neatly. I store the PVC patterns clipped to a skirt hanger and hung in my spare wardrobe.
